On this page you can find out about courses and workshops that might interest you. Belper Marlin Swimming Club runs only by parents and swimmers volunteering for roles within the club – we are a family where everyone gets involved. These can be coaching or teaching roles, judging, lifeguarding, team managing or becoming one of the committee.
Being a well-run club under the accreditation of Swim 21 and Swim England we offer training to facilitate filling these positions. As many of the roles include working with children ‘DBS’ checks will be made and Safe Guarding courses run.
Below are the many ways you may get involved. Courses are regularly organised so please return to this page from time to time to see the updates.

Officiating
Courses are run on a regular basis for helpers who would like to become a qualified, timekeeper, judge, starter or referee. J1. This involves timing and judging the swimmer's stroke during the events to ensure they comply with the regulations laid down by the sports governing body, FINA. If you wish to find out more, simply chat with someone in white at a club gala or approach a coach who can direct you to someone who can get you involved.
Team Manager
Parents are not allowed on poolside during events. Children are cared for and organised by team managers and of course older swimmers that will take them under their wing. If you wish to become a team manager a course can be taken. You will be in loco parentis during this time.
Committee
The club only runs because a committee helps to organise things in the background. There are many jobs available that need to be filled, some only for a minimal time commitment. Please volunteer if you feel able as the club and ultimately our young swimmers can only do what they do if we have helpers.
