Mini Press Release on Champs…

Mini Marlin swimmers were treated to a lovely surprise with a visit from Santa during their gala at Heanor Leisure Centre. Parents filled the viewing area and cheered on their youngsters aged 5-9 as they battled it out to get top honours. Medals were given out for top three places and for participating. The children that achieved the most wins also were given the shields that they then keep for a year. The jingle of medals then brought on the jingle of bells as Santa arrived bringing smiles to the children’s faces but also bringing a sack full of presents!
The competitors were Catherine Ratcliff, Donald Kelly, Connie Booth, Jessica Tomlinson, Joseph Kelly, Emma Jane Rantzan, Kate Kelly, Dan Parker, Alice Lincoln, Megan Chambers, Ahab Wilson, Henry Booth, Cleona Kelly, Charlie, Rubin Foki, Finlay Mirtz, Lydia Norman, Henry Watson, Natalie Brough, Rohan Maclachlan, Isobel Fray, Jacob Hardy, Sophie Canning, Lotti and finally Ellie Ledgester. All children need a mention for the great enthusiasm showed and sporting prowess.
Many of them were so good that they will soon be moving to the main Marlin team. This is a credit to the fantastic progress they make in Mini Marlin’s. Children are taught not only how to swim but also how to swim fast! This was evident to see as they skimmed across the pool. Santa unfortunately didn’t bring his swimming trunks, but to be honest with the number of competitors there would be little room for him in the pool.
