4 Towns Round 1 Report

Last Saturday night saw Belper Marlin compete in the first round of the 4 Towns event at Alfreton.

After a steady start to the gala Belper gradually picked up the pace as the evening progressed.

 For the first time in this competition four Jokers per team have been introduced to enable swimmers to swim for double points for the team.

 Belper were able to benefit to the tune of 24 points from this through:

Dean Smith- Boys Open 50m Free

Emma-Jayne Rantzen- Girls 9Yrs 25m Free

Lauren Tomlinson- Girls 14/u 50m Free

Lotta Perry-Taylor gained a Pb and a speeding ticket in the Girls 10/u 50m Free in the other Joker event, the other speeding ticket of the evening was earned by Olivia Marshall in the Girls 12/u 50m Free.

Despite disqualifications in five of the relays, the team as a whole was able to produce 13 Pb’s and amazing 23 1st places.

Congratulations to all swimmers that took part and contributed to the success of the evening, and thank you to all the parents that volunteered their help to enable the gala to take place.

3rd Leek 93

4th Ashbourne 89

Well done to all the Mighty Marlins that swam and here’s looking forward to Round 2 later in the Year.
