Eccky Thump !! Mighty Marlins on Top Form

It may have been cold, windy and wet outside but it was like taking a trip into the humidity of the rainforest at the Eckington Gala.
The competitors may have been enjoying themselves but the parents felt they were in ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!’ as they all tolerated the conditions to support their children. A thirty strong team of Belper swimmers took on the likes of Eckington, Chesterfield , Dronfield, Ripley and Long Eaton to name a few in this highly competitive event.
The up and coming talent of Belper Marlin Swimming Club, starting at the age of nine years old, came with the intent of stealing as many medals as they could … and they weren’t disappointed. Splitting the pool into six furrows the competitors carved their way through the water, drawing on all the strength in an effort to be the first to touch the electronic finish pad.
Personal best fell and one after another the ‘Mighty Marlins’ journeyed over to the medals table to pick up their plunder! When all the figures were calculated the team was also awarded the Team Trophy which was won by adding up the points for each position gained. Well if you are going to raid the table go for the silver ware too!! An amazing achievement! Well done to all the children that took part and the parents that were a little wilted but happy to see their young swimmers do so well. Go team Belper!
