Gala Reports – Regional and British Championships

Our top swimmers have been in action recently at the British Championships in Glasgow and the East Midlands regional championships in Corby and Sheffield, with some great performances by all.

Midland Age Groups 27/28th  April

The Marlins had 1 qualifier for the age group regional events and this was Megan Oram who did us proud. Megan made finals in the  50m, 100m, and 200m  Breaststroke as well as getting a new PB  in the 50m freestyle.

Well done Megan some great swims. Megan’s results were;

Girls 13y/o 100m Brs 4th

Girls 13y/o 200m brs 6th

Girls 13y/o 50m Brs 7th

Midland Youth Sprints Mon 6th May at Ponds Forge

 The Marlins took 11 qualifiers to Ponds Forge on bank holiday Monday where it was certainly warmer on poolside than outside in the unseasonal weather.

We came away with lots of times on PB or better and  2 medals from 7 finals.

There were some great races and some very near misses on more medals.

Josh Horobin took silver in the Men’s 50m Breaststroke while Sam Brookes took a bronze in the 15y/o 50m Brs

The finalists are listed below, well done to all for qualifying and swimming so well.

British Championships 2019

Last month Joshua Horobin made the trip up to Glasgow to swim at this year’s British swimming championships representing the club in the 50 and 100m Breaststroke events. It was the 1st time Joshua had swum at Tollcross which was built for the Commonwealth Games.

British swimming had also targeted this meet for qualification to the World Championships later this year, so all the Olympic swimmers were on show and swimming for places at this major event with a number of world best times done over the week.

Joshua swam well in the 100m event just outside his PB and again similar in the 50m event. It was a great experience and a big achievement to qualify for this prestigious event. Well Done to Joshua.
