Last Saturday evening at the fantastic Harvey Hadden Sports Village in Nottingham, the Marlins took part in the annual Jamie Rigby Memorial gala hosted by Ilkeston swimming club.
In a fast and furious team gala across 61 events over about two hours, we were never headed and came away once again with the magnificent silver trophy for another year, which will take pride of place in the trophy cabinet at Belper Leisure Centre.
The 11 and under girls freestyle relay opened with an exciting and close first place in event 1 and from thereon in, the Marlins team took first place in a total of 32 events out of the 61, with a further 12 second places underlining how strong this years team was. The convincing win in the 20x25m cannon relay rounded off a great evening.
With so many firsts, it is impossible to mention everyone, but in particular, our new and novice swimmers should be very proud of themselves, along with their more experienced teammates.
