Marlins Compete at Youth Nationals

Leah Hollingsworth and Maddie Shrimpling competed at Ponds Forge this week at the ASA Youth Nationals.
Both Leah and Maddie swam the 50m Breaststroke. Maddie produced a superb sprint to finish 11th in her age group in a time of 34.21 which was a PB by 1.1 seconds. Leah also swam well and was just 0.15 seconds outside her PB in 35.68.
Leah , whose preparation had been hampered in the months leading up to the national then swam the 100 m breaststroke. She went out in 35.54 [faster than her 50m individual and only 0.03s of her 50m PB] but tied up in the last 25m to finish in 1:17.3, a great swim under the circumstances.
We have had swimmers at Nationals before, usually training and swimming with DX but Maddie and Leah have done all their training at Belper and it was great to see them wearing the Marlins kit with pride on the National stage.
