Weekend Round Up….

Sherwood Colliery Meet
Last Weekend BMSC supported the Sherwood Colliery Long Course Open Meet at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre. The group of swimmers that attended the gala, represented BMSC with the usual class and upmost respect, all of the swimmers in question worked incredibly hard, with SKILLS being the theme of the Open Meet, turns, dives and finishes we’re on the coaching teams mind.The coaches that supported the meet outlined to the swimmers key areas for improvement whilst congratulating the masses of personal best times that flooded in.

Race after race the swimmers showed the BMSC excellence.

Special mention goes to Joshua Horobin taking 3 x 1st places in 100 Fc, 100 Brs and 50 Fly, to Morgan Hart, who took 3rd in the 200 Brs.

Many of the Marlins in question, took this rare opportunity to swim the longer distance events long course, so well done to Ellie Baker, Francesca Emm, Cameron Haynes & Jordan Cooper Smith on this note, this also doesn’t include the few that took on the 200m IM and Fly.

Considering the level of competition being extremely high, and the meet being Long Course, of which we as a club don’t get the opportunity to do often, to come away with 21 top 6 places and 4 top 3, this was an amazing success for the swimmers and BMSC.

Well Done to all who competed and remember to take forward what your coaches told you and work on it in training to excel at the next meet…

Derventio Meet

A small group of 11 Belper Marlins swam at the DX gala at Matlock over the weekend. This was a high level meet with tough qualifying times. Large strong teams had entered from the Midlands and beyond, including, Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Northampton, along with Chesterfield and DX themselves.

All the Marlins swam extremely well, with an amazing 32 top 6 places, 8 being top 3 places, and lots of PB’s from all swimmers.
Top 3 places were swam by;
Phoebe Barden 1st place in 50 fc & 2nd place in 50 Br

Will Brookes 2nd place in 100 IM & 3rd in 50 fc

Elliot Stubbs 3rd place in 100 bc & 50 bc

Howie Barden 3rd in 50 br & 50 Fc

Team spirit was high at this gala with all our swimmers cheering each other on for their races, which was great to see. All the Marlin swimmers behaved impeccably well over the weekend, which made the job of team managing very smooth. Well done to all those who competed.
