We’ve Done It… Mighty Marlins Roll On..

Well we’ve done it!
3rd place in the final round of West Midlands Arena league is more than enough to get Belper Marlin SC promoted to DIVISION 1.

What a fantastic evening
Cheered to the rafters by a raucous and partisan crowd who kicked off with a witty rendition of ‘bread of heaven’ and really put the other teams on the back foot
Once again performances improved from the previous round.
We had 12 victories – more than any other club – and as in previous rounds some superb team swims
After 18 events we were leading and there was never really any worry about not getting 4th place and guaranteed promotion.
I was really pleased with all performances not just the victories but an incredible number of pbs and fastest team swims,

Thanks to everyone involved in getting us to this position, to the coaching team for their continued dedication and volunteering, the committee and sub committees,
all poolside volunteers and to the finest most vocal supporters we could wish to have, and most of all to the swimmers who performed brilliantly in all 3 rounds , who are improving technically year on year and who showed the skills , intelligence and tenacity we have come to expect from Marlins swimmers in recent year.

Then it was back to the Ainley’s house for a party – everything we shouldn’t eat or drink as highly trained athletes and a great night was had by all

But is doesn’t stop there- land training is on today , we are going to start some work on turns as well over the next week to keep training.
